When processing any type of transaction, you always need to be aware of the potential risks of fraud, and what you can do to prevent it. In this guide we look at the tools available to help reduce the risk of payments fraud to your business.
At Elavon, we make processing transactions as safe as possible, however we cannot offer any guarantees against fraudulent activity. By using the tools outlined in this guide, you will be able to make your own payments safer and more secure when processing ecommerce transactions.
Card not present (CNP) refers to any purchase made without the customer physically presenting their card to you at the time of payment. It includes transactions completed through online checkouts, mobile apps, telephone orders, mail orders, and recurring or stored‑card payments, where the card details are entered or transmitted remotely rather than verified in person. As the cardholder is not present when the transaction is being processed, Elavon has a number of tools you can use to limit the risk of fraud to your business.
