In light of the current COVID-19 environment, the Irish payments industry has taken the decision to increase the contactless limit to €50 from €30. This increase in the limit for contactless transactions in-store is another measure to reduce the spread of Covid-19 via cash handling.
What will I need to do?
This software update is available for your terminal now.
The good news, for customers with a card machine from Elavon, is that you will not need to do anything. Your card terminal will automatically download this update over the next 30 days. However, if you want to affect this change immediately and increase the contactless limit on your card terminal from 1 April 2020, please follow these simple steps:

Batch your terminal using the END-OF-DAY function.

Go to the MAIN MENU, select TERMINAL, then CONFIG UPDATE.
Enter User Password and select YES to Config Update.

The Terminal Management System (TMS) will install the update. Your terminal will automatically restart, ready to accept contactless payments up to £45.
If your terminal is not provided by Elavon, you will need to contact your payment provider to find out when the contactless limit on your POS machine will be updated to reflect this change.
